NEW RELEASE - COUNTRY NIGHTS by Winter Renshaw:

TITLE: Country Nights
AUTHOR: Winter Renshaw
AGE GROUP: Adult
GENRE: Romance
RELEASE DATE: June 27, 2017
PUBLISHER: Winter Renshaw
RELEASE COORDINATED BY:
Ardent Prose

BOOK BLURB:
Sixty country days and sixty country nights—that’s all I wanted.

I needed to get away from the city, away from the hot mess that had become my life.

When I stumbled upon my childhood home on RentBnB.com, I took it as a sign, cleaned out my life savings, and hightailed it to the only place that ever meant something to me, a place I hadn’t seen since a lifetime ago.

Only when I arrived to the familiar South Dakotan farmhouse, I was met by a brooding, we-don’t-take-kindly-to-strangers cowboy by the name of River McCray, who insisted this was his house and most definitely not a rental property.

I’d been internet scammed.

And that cocky, smart-mouthed stranger had the nerve to make me a humiliating offer: I could stay in his house for the next two months rent-free, but I had to work for him.

He’d be my boss. And my roommate.

With no money and nowhere else to go, I agreed. But nothing could have prepared me for the tension, the attraction, and the bombshell revelation that changed … everything.

RATING: 4.5 Stars!
CLIFFHANGER: No

BOOK BLURB:
After a car accident killed her parents when she was a child, Bronagh Murphy chose to box herself off from people in an effort to keep herself from future hurt. If she doesn't befriend people, talk to them or acknowledge them in any way they leave her alone just like she wants.

When Dominic Slater enters her life, ignoring him is all she has to do to get his attention. Dominic is used to attention, and when he and his brothers move to Dublin, Ireland for family business, he gets nothing but attention. Attention from everyone except the beautiful brunette with a sharp tongue.

Dominic wants Bronagh and the only way he can get to her, is by dragging her from the boxed off corner she has herself trapped in the only way he knows how... by force.

Dominic wants her, and what Dominic wants, Dominic gets.

4.5 “Fuckface” Stars!
This book was perfectly ridiculous ... and a ridiculously perfect!

The Review:
Sometimes you just need a little bit of insanity in your life and this book fills that spot nicely. LOVED IT!

Dominic and Bronagh were unstable, maladjusted and totally dysfunctional ... and probably one of my favorite couples so far this year! They are complete nutters but also sweet, fun and seriously cute together. I couldn’t get enough of this book!

Story/Characters...
Nine years ago, after losing her parents, Bronagh Murphy declared everyone off limits. She has no want or desire for personal relationships with anyone, whether it be friendship or something more, she shies away from all interaction and all emotional connections.

But the day she walks into her reg. class and sees the new hotboy sitting at her table, she sheds her disrespect and insults all over him, which only seems to incite him and suddenly the invisible girl is now seen by all.

Dominic Slater and his house full of hot brothers have just moved to Ireland for their family business. On his first day, he meets the most cranky and filterless girl he’s ever come across. And the moment she doesn’t swoon at his feet like most girls, but rather slaps him silly across his fantastically handsome face, he’s totally and completely smitten.

These two together were hilarious! Nemesis from the start, they trade barbs and get on each others nerves. The things they do to one another were entertaining to read, to say the least. I was laughing one minute and getting those beautiful butterflies and chest pangs I love so much the next.

Bronagh is adamant in protecting her heart so she goes beyond the norm to keep Dominic away, but it always backfires on her because having a girl turn him down is something new to Dominic and she only intrigues him further. I loved Bronagh’s character. Her outlandish, quirky attitude and her fiery spirit were a blast to read and she came up with some inventive one-liners and laugh-out-loud revenge tactics. I loved how she wasn’t intimidated by just being herself. She was who she was and she didn’t apologize for it.

Dominic is a possessive hothead and I LOVED HIM! He was domineering, a total player, a bit insane and a complete arsehole ... and also absolutely adorable! Once he set his sights on Bronagh, he was committed and NOTHING was going to stop him from getting his girl ... no matter how hard she pushed him away. *swoon*

And those brothers... WOW! So many abs, so little time, LOL!

The Wrap Up:
Dominic was brilliant! I just finished it and already want to do a reread. It had a bit of lite angsts, a sinfully hot hero and a lively heroine, was filled with amazing writing and was just a lot of fun to read! It had a fantastic supporting cast and all the little side stories left me giddy for the rest of the books in the series. This book was incredibly absurd, a bit comical and totally over the top in places, but it also worked in every way. It was fun, sexy (Dominic’s dirty talk was HOT, HOT, HOT!) and seriously entertaining. I couldn’t put it down!

RATING: 3 Stars!

BOOK BLURB:
You already heard the story. The one of how Rory and I fell in love, supposedly, even if she couldn't handle it in the end. You know how it all went.

Or you think you do.

You only know her side. But I have my own point of view, and even Rory couldn't know my thoughts in those few months it took for her to go from being a stranger to my whole entire world.

Every moment is permanently ingrained in my memory. In my goddamned soul. From the moment I stumbled upon the girl panicking outside of calculus - the one with the tight little body, the angelic face, and the fierce attitude - to the night she abandoned me in Miami. It was the sum of those moments that changed me irrevocably.

Our story isn't over. I won't let it be. But this, this is what happened so far, the way I saw it.

I'm Cap. Or Sam, to Rory. And this is my story.

3 Stars!

The Review:
I love getting a “his” POV. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things, when an author goes that extra mile, to let us see all the points we might have missed from the “her” POV.

This was a nice look into what Sam was feeling and how he saw things from the first book, but there wasn’t much in the way of anything new and it was really just a shortened, skimmed over “ReCap” of the first book. And again... just like in the first book, Too. Much. Internal. Monologuing! I skipped over a lot of it so I could get to the meat of the story. It all became repetitive.

As for the character Sam, I still love him so much. I was spellbound by his kindness in book one and I think the author did such a great job showcasing his emotions through Rory, that we really didn’t need this book. But it was nice to see how protective he felt and how much in love he is with Rory. That in itself, was swoon-worthy and totally worth reading this book.

BOOK BLURB:
After the horrors she’s survived over the past year, Rory never expected to find the one thing she certainly wasn’t looking for – love. But after the painful realization that her past has left her a dangerous liability to the person she cares for the most, she finally understands that for her and Sam, love means letting go.

Can two people hopelessly in love with one another ever revert back into just friends? Neither Rory nor Sam know for sure. But the one thing they do know – it’s the only choice they have.

As Rory recovers from a devastating assault, Sam will do anything to make sure it never happens again. But how far will he go to keep her safe? Their choices will change everything, and they will either bring them back together, or destroy them irrevocably.

OKAY is the follow-up to NORMAL and Book 2 of the Something More series. It is not meant to be read as a standalone novel.

2.5 Stars!

The Review:
I’m totally giving all my stars to the story itself, which I loved, but this book had a lot of what I disliked about the first book. It was filled full of rehashed internal monologuing. So much so, I actually skipped over a lot of the repetitiveness. One conversation would take up three or four pages with only four lines of actual dialogue because of all the internal monologuing! It was just TOO MUCH!

The first book totally “wow’ed” me. Rory’s pain was so emotional and her struggles so real, that I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Sam made me swoon with his kindness, his understanding and his gentleness. This book, however, made me want to scream and not in a good way. Don’t get me wrong. I loved the direction of the story. I enjoyed the journey. And I loved Rory’s character, which grew and developed bit by bit with each passing scene. And I absolutely LOVED Sam. His strength and eagerness to help the girl he fell in love with, even when he was being jealous and didn’t understand what was going on, was heart-melting. And I never blamed him for being confused. He had ever reason because Rory hid a lot of things and just wouldn’t speak up!

What I didn’t like was all the back and forth, the miscommunication, the repetitive are-we or aren’t-we scenarios and all the points that were hammered home relentlessly. Rory spends a great deal of time contemplating ... everything! She struggles with the right thing to do and instead of showing us her struggle, we spend countless chapters with her internalizing everything. We also get a Sam POV, which I LOVED, but the author did the same thing with him. And we’re taken on several inconsequential tangents that have nothing to do with the main story.

I’m kind of over stories that use massive miscommunication to sell drama or conflict. I wanted to scream at both of them to Just. Be. Honest! They obviously trusted and loved one another, so Speak. Up! There was plenty of drama to be had, plenty of conflict and a ton of emotions at play, without all the back and forth.

After the first book blew me away, this one was underwhelming. Like I said, I loved the direction of the story. Rory and Sam went through some majorly difficult times, and I enjoyed their struggle and their characters, but the writing left me frustrated and I really think without all that fluff, Sam and Rory’s journey could have been told in one book ... and been phenomenal!

RATING: 4 Stars!
CLIFFHANGER: Yes

BOOK BLURB:
It's the kind of situation most people would dread. Starting at a new high school, in the middle of my senior year, in a new town, in a new state. I know no one. No one knows me. That's what I'm counting on.

A year ago, Aurora "Rory" Pine was just a normal teenage girl - just as sweet and naive as the fairy tale princess she was named after.

But this isn't a year ago.

Rory is broken, and now suffering from a debilitating anxiety disorder, wrought with precarious triggers, she moves across the country to escape the source of her troubles. Her plan is anonymity, but that's easier said than achieved for the new girl having a panic episode outside of calculus. The worst part? There's a witness - and a gorgeous one at that.

Sam is a walking trigger for Rory. Incredibly handsome, built like the star athlete he obviously is, and undoubtedly popular, Sam outwardly represents everything Rory despises about high school. But as the fates keep throwing them together, a connection sparks that neither ever expected, and certainly couldn't ignore.

But Sam has issues too, and Rory's past won't just stay in the damned past. When friendship evolves into something deeper, can a girl utterly destroyed by the worst kind of betrayal and a boy battling demons of his own ever have a normal relationship? Is that even what they want? Find out in NORMAL, a gritty story of trust and abuse, heartbreak and salvation, and if they're lucky - love. This is not a flowery romance - not for the faint of heart.

4 “wow!” Stars!
My. Heart. Is. Broken!

The Review:
Amazing! This book was powerful, emotional and affecting on so many levels. From the moment it opens up, you understand that the heroine, Rory, has been through something awful and whatever it is, has changed her, her outlook on life and her instincts. She openly admits she’s been betrayed and abandoned and we can clearly see that. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to like her. She had no confidence at all and was really down on herself. After all she’d been through, she was very much the victim and her self loathing was front and center. However, after reading all the events that shaped her into the person she is now, I get it. I totally understand how loving herself could fade into the background of questioning herself and her worth. And it was utterly heartbreaking.

Sam was amazing, in every way, as he supported her. Gah! He was just the perfect hero. He was gentle, kind, understanding and he truly wanted to help. He felt an instant connection the moment he sees her. He also has a dark past and maybe that’s why he could see through her and he recognized a broken soul. But he really wanted to get to know her and he really shined in the “hero” department. I loved his character.

I experienced a tumultuous sea of emotions while reading this book and the story itself was poignant and dramatic. There’s so much that happens in this book and I thought the author did an amazing job switching between time lines. It almost felt like we got two different stories in one and it was never confusing. I loved the supporting characters, especially Cam! Cam ..... *sigh*

However, as much as I enjoyed this book, I wanted to hint on a couple of things I didn’t like...
The overuse of the word “fucking” was a bit extreme. ALL the characters said it and said it often. I’m not sensitive to the word. Not at all. In fact, I probably say it in real life as much as these characters did. I curse like a trucker most of the time, but reading it over and over can be a bit much. It looses it’s dramatic effect. Both Rory and Sam said it in almost Every. Single. Sentence! Sometimes multiple times in a sentence. Next, I enjoyed the internal monologuing Rory gave us. There was a lot to absorb, but there was also TOO MUCH in overly long paragraphs that I think could have been culled down for a more dramatic effect. You don’t need to hammer the points home to the reader. We get it and we can appreciate it. We don’t need scenes or points of the story rehashed in multiple places. This story was so well laid out, we didn’t need all that excess. And lastly, the dialogue was sometimes a bit overdone, but that was easily overlooked because I also found myself smiling hard at some of the banter between Rory and Sam.

All in all, this book was fantastic. It was hard to read because it was so full of tragedy and sensitive circumstances, but that’s also what made it so great. The author really took you along for the ride, pulled you into the scenes and kept you there in all their gritty, painful moments. I think this was the author's debut novel and if that’s the case, she did a remarkable job right out of the gate! I can’t wait to see how this story progresses.

As for the characters, I hate the way it ended, but I’m really looking forward to book two. I also hope in the next book or at least by the end of her story, Rory no longer sees herself as a victim but rather the strong survivor she actually is. I want to see her be able to stand up for what she wants and believe she deserves it.

NEW RELEASE BLITZ with EXCERPT and GIVEAWAY - AMNESIA by Cambria Hebert:

TITLE: Amnesia
AUTHOR: Cambria Hebert
Publication date: June 12th 2017
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

BOOK BLURB:
I washed ashore in a little lake town.
A place where everyone knows everyone, yet…
No one knows me.
I don’t know me.
If a woman doesn’t know her own name, does she really exist?
I don’t know my natural hair color, my birthdate, or where I live.
I am invisible.
To everyone, to everything, even to myself.
Except to him.
I see the recognition deep in his stare, the way it lingers on my face as if I’m a puzzle he’s desperate to put together.
I just want answers, the truth… knowledge.
His lips are sealed. Still, his eyes beguile me.
I can’t trust anyone, not even myself. Someone wants me dead, the same someone who tried to bury me in a watery grave.
They’ll come for me again… I won’t know their face.
I don’t even know mine.
I am amnesia.

EXCERPT
Slivers of light pricked my eyelids, which up until this moment seemed far too heavy to lift. As I lay against something soft at my back, thought and awareness barely registered.

The gritty feeling as I struggled to raise my eyelids scraped and burned over my eyeballs as if warning me it wasn’t a good idea. Swallowing past the sandpaper in my throat, I stopped working and lay still. Cognizance slowly came forward in the form of something weighing me down and the echo of footsteps nearby.

Adrenaline jackknifed through me, and my body arched upward with the force of my gasp. The weight of whatever held me caused severe panic to fill me, and I began to fight against it.

“No!” I screamed, flailing about, trying to escape the binds. “Let me go!”
High-pitched beeping filled my ears, and the footsteps I’d heard grew more insistent and much closer.

He was coming!

“No!” I screamed.

Strong hands grabbed my arms and pinned me down. I tried to fight back, but they were much stronger than me. Kicking my legs, I tried to free them, but even more weight came down, holding them still until I was gasping for breath and ready to beg.

“Please!” I pleaded as wetness coated my cheeks. It made me realize the grittiness under my lids was rinsed away, and my eyes sprang open.

A man was leaning over me. He had graying hair and wore some kind of white shirt. The scream that ripped right out of me scared us both.
More hands and voices came out of nowhere, and I thrashed around again.
“Miss!” the man yelled. “Miss, calm down.”

“Get away from me!” I screamed again.

“Miss!” another voice yelled, a woman this time. Turning in her direction, I saw a pair of kind brown eyes staring at me. “We aren’t trying to hurt you.”
I calmed some, but the thundering of my heart made me feel as if I might spiral out of control. “You aren’t?”

“No.” The woman, who was also dressed in white, spoke. “You’re at a hospital. You were in an accident.”

“W-what?” I stammered, collapsing back against the bed, no longer straining against the binds.

“You’re at a hospital.”

“You’re trying to hold me down!” I accused.

“We don’t want you to hurt yourself.” the woman explained. The hands, even the man’s, remained.

“I don’t like it,” I admitted, recoiling.

The man straightened, stepping back. The nurse was slower to withdraw, but she did so after a few seconds.

“My legs,” I rasped. Suddenly, my throat hurt.

“It’s just the blankets.”

A quick glance down proved I was covered with blankets. Between suspicious glances at the people crowding my room (there were four), I gazed around, concluding I was in fact in a hospital.

“I don’t understand,” I admitted, all my weight pressing into the bed.
“It’s okay,” the man replied. He was a doctor, with a name badge and a stethoscope. “It’s completely normal and expected to be confused after the ordeal you’ve been through.”

“What ordeal?” I asked instantly, anxiety pressing in on my ribcage.
“We were hoping you could tell us,” the doctor said.

“What?” My brows furrowed.

The nurse leaned close, over the side of the bed. I noticed the railings were pulled up on each side. It made me feel as if I were in jail. Instantly, I hated it and began shoving at the bars, trying to push them down.

“Okay, hang on,” the nurse said and put the rails down. Once it was done, she pinned me with an insistent stare. “You have to stay still. You can’t thrash around. You’ll rip out your IV and reinjure yourself.”

“What happened to me?” I asked for what felt like the fifteenth time. I looked around at the four people in the room, hoping one of them would just spit it out.

The doctor motioned to two of the nurses and then quietly left the room.
I glanced back at the nurse. “Can you tell us your name?” she asked.
“My name?” I nodded once, then opened my mouth… only nothing came out.

Anxiety spiked in me again; I started to become agitated. “I… don’t know.”
“Calm down.” The nurse reminded me.

How dare she tell me to calm down? I couldn’t even remember my name.
Oh my God, I didn’t know my own name!

“I don’t remember!” I gasped, jerking up into a sitting position. “Why can’t I remember?”

Before I could fling the covers off and jump out of bed, the doctor was there, pinning me back down. “If you don’t calm down, we’ll have to sedate you. I don’t want to do that. You’ve been out long enough.”

I stilled. “How long?”

“A while.” The nurse hedged.

I ignored her. She was terrible with questions. “How long?” I demanded.
“A little over two months,” the doctor replied.

I gasped. “What’s my name?” I yelled.

I’d been here for two months and they were asking for my name? Shouldn’t they know it?

The doctor wasn’t looking at me; he was looking at the nurse, giving her a curt nod. She rushed out of the room.

“No!” I shouted. “No drugs! Please! Tell me my name. I just want to know my name.”

“You need to calm down. You’ve had a great deal of trauma, miss.”

I dropped back against the pillow, boneless. He called me miss. “You don’t know my name, do you?” I asked, meek.

Sensing all my energy was drained away, he moved back. A frown pulled at his lips. “You were brought in with no identification.” He began.

Fear unlike anything I’d ever felt wrapped around my heart and squeezed. I searched every corner of my mind for something. Anything.

There was nothing.

“I don’t remember…” I whispered.

The doctor seemed to soften. “I know this must be very scary, to wake up and be so disoriented.”

I laughed, but it wasn’t a humorous sound. I wished I were disoriented right then.

“You’ve been through a lot. Give it a few days. Now that you’re awake, your mind will catch up and you will remember.”

“I will?” I asked.

“There’s a good chance.”

Disappointment speared me. “If I don’t?”

“Let’s take it one day at a time.” He placated me.

“Easy for you to say. You know your name.”

A ghost of a smile appeared on his face. “Time.” He reminded me.

The nurse came through the door, holding a syringe, and I cringed away.
“I don’t think we’re going to need that,” the doctor told her.

I let out an audible sigh.

He glanced around again. “Now that you’re awake, I’ll get you down for testing.”

“What kind of testing?” I asked.

“Routine stuff for someone who’s been in a coma.”

Nothing about this was routine. I was in coma… for two months. And I didn’t even know my name.

When both the nurse and doctor were gone and I was alone, my eyes overflowed with tears and a formidable feeling of dread crowded inside me. The doctor said there was “a good chance” I would remember my name very soon.

The problem was it wasn’t just my name I needed to remember…

It was everything.
